Basing himself on various medieval documents by means of which the monarchs of the Crown of Aragon reinstituted a special common law court (the tribunal del ligallo) in order for stray cattle to be returned to their owners, the author traces the origin of this court to an extremely ancient Celtiberian institution and reconstructs its functioning and role in the Celtiberian societies of the Iberian Peninsula. This court of justice, typical of all the seven-member clusters (oppida) of the Celtiberian world, met twice a year, its sessions coinciding with the two major festivals of Beltene (1 May) and Samain (1 November), and its mission was to resolve all the livestock disputes that arose within each ethnic community. The name ligallo is a Latin/Roman loan translation of the word Samain/Samuhin.

Collision Risk Model for High-Density Airspaces

    Get PDF
This chapter describes a collision risk model (CRM) of airspace scenarios to describe their safety levels when populated by given air traffic. The model requires the use of representative data, containing a description of the flown aircraft trajectories. It is a combination of deterministic and probabilistic mathematical tools able to estimate the level of safety. Furthermore, the model captures the frequency and spatial distribution of the encounters and conflicts, the time in advance the conflict is identified and the overall reaction time of the Air Traffic Control ATC system, and finally, the effectiveness of the ATC as safety layer. The model considers that the risk of an air miss depends on two different factors: on the one hand, the frequency of exposure to risks and, on the other, the chance of collision associated to this exposure. The exposure to risk is captured following a deterministic data-driven approach, whereas the associated chance of collision is derived from a statistical mathematical model, fed by the kinematics of the encounter and the statistics associated to the accuracy of the aircraft state vector when following a planned trajectory

About Helices and Solvents: VCD and more

Intermolecular forces drive self-organization of molecules, which is ultimately the origin of most the physical and chemical phenomena in Nature. Molecules able to interact themselves by non-covalent forces, as hydrogen bonding and/or hydrophobic attractions, usually form macrostructures in condensed phases (solid, solution). The properties of these aggregates depend of three main factors: the structural and chemical features of the molecules, the nature of intermolecular forces and the environment. The first two drive aggregation in solid state, while in solution the role of the solvent become determinant as it can induce a variety of structural effects on the aggregation behaviour of the solute. In the case of chiral molecules, this property is transferred to the aggregates and supramolecular chirality appears. Here we present our research on chiral molecules that self-organize in solution forming helical structures. We use VCD as the main chiroptical tool, but also supported by other chiroptical spectroscopies (ECD, ROA) and theoretical modelling. In our first steps, we studied the effect of modulating the environmental settings on the helices. Thus, helix handedness was proved highly and reversibly dependent on factors as pH or ionic strength in peptide-mimetic hydrogelators. We also observe how the initial conditions (concentration, temperature) were capable of controlling the helix structure of oligo-p-phenylene-based polymers towards kinetic or thermodynamics pathways. Besides, the structure of the helices can also be the consequence of direct solvent-solute interactions. In this way, we have demonstrated that an achiral solvent can act as a template for chiral organization of N-heterotriangulenes-based organogelators, thus showing the different levels of complexity of the hierarchical organization of supramolecular polymers. But the solvent-helix interactions can be bidirectional. As a nice example, we recorded chiral signals which can be only assigned to the organization of the solvent molecules around helical aggregates of phenylglycine functionalized poly(phenylacetylene)s. The solvent molecules thus form a first solvation shell to which the helix chirality is transferred. The helices would act therefore as a template of the solvent molecules, and the chirality of this external helix would be fully controlled by the solute.Universidad de Málaga. The successor’s figure in the Temenid house tends in historical times to be established by means of the inheritance from fathers to sons. There are more possibilities for the first-born son of each marriage. It is impossible to establish if it was an original system that favours the brothers. The royal will is the rule that regulates successory order. Bearing in mind every antecedents, the Macedonian Assembly consolidated very simple rules for the alternation of the kings. The potential candidates receive a special education. The candidate who was called to be promoted, could be associated, with no title, into representatives, administratives and governmental functions

Analysis of the geometric altimetry to support aircraft optimal profiles within future 4D trajectory management

The use of barometric altimetry is to some extent a limiting factor on safety, predictability and efficiency of aircraft operations, and reduces the potential of the trajectory based operations capabilities. However, geometric altimetry could be used to improve all of these aspects. Nowadays aircraft altitude is estimated by applying the International Standard Atmosphere which differs from real altitude. At different temperatures for an assigned barometric altitude, aerodynamic forces are different and this has a direct relationship with time, fuel consumption and range of the flight. The study explores the feasibility of using sensors providing geometric reference altitude, in particular, to supply capabilities for the optimization of vertical profiles and also, their impact on the vertical Air Traffic Management separation assurance processes. One of the aims of the thesis is to assess if geometric altitude fulfils the aeronautical requirements through existing sensors. Also the thesis will elaborate on the advantages of geometric altitude over the barometric altitude in terms of efficiency for vertical navigation. The evidence that geometric altitude is the best choice to improve the efficiency in vertical profile and aircraft capacity by reducing vertical uncertainties will also be shown. In this paper, an atmospheric study is presented, as well as the impact of temperature deviation from International Standard Atmosphere model is analyzed in order to obtain relationship between geometric and barometric altitude. Furthermore, an aircraft model to study aircraft vertical profile is provided to analyse trajectories based on geometric altitudes

    Partial coherent states in graphene

Producción CientíficaWe employ a symmetric gauge to describe the interaction of electrons in graphene with a magnetic field which is orthogonal to the layer surface and to build the so-called partial and bidimensional coherent states for this system in the Barut-Girardello sense. We also evaluate the corresponding probability and current densities as well as the mean energy value.Junta de Castilla y León (projects VA137G18 and BU229P18)Ministerio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad (project MTM2014-57129-C2-1-P
